Square One Ventures operates square one launch (the “Platform”), a career, education and opportunity platform designed to help university students discover and access jobs, internships, scholarships, employer opportunities, career-related content and other professional development opportunities, and to provide tools that assist students with their career development.

This Privacy Policy explains the types of personal information we may collect, how we may process, store and share that information, and the choices available to users regarding their information.

By creating an account, accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge the collection, use, processing, storage and disclosure of information as described in this Privacy Policy.

The Platform is based in Pakistan but uses technology and service providers that may process and store information using cloud platforms which may be operating outside Pakistan. Where you access or interact directly with an independent third-party service through or from the Platform, that third party’s own privacy policy and terms may also apply.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide to us, information generated through your use of the Platform, and your information received from universities, companies, employers, service providers or other authorized sources.

The information we collect may generally fall within the following categories.

1.1 Account and Contact Information

This includes your information used to create, authenticate, maintain and communicate with you regarding your account, such as your name, email address, telephone number, address, account identifiers, login and authentication information, and similar contact or account-related information.

1.2 Personal and Demographic Information

This may include information about you and your background, such as gender, nationality, location, interests, hobbies, languages and other personal or demographic information that you choose to provide or that may be relevant to a Platform feature or opportunity.

1.3 Academic and Professional Information

This includes information relating to your education, qualifications, career and professional background, including your university, department, degree, major, academic results or CGPA, education dates and highlights, experience, employment or internship history, skills, academic projects, certifications, publications, awards, honors, activities, achievements and other academic or professional information.

1.4 Verification and Identification Information

We may request information or documents for the purpose of verifying your identity, university affiliation, student status, academic information or eligibility to use certain Platform features.

Such information may include university transcripts, student identification documents, CNIC or other identity documents or other supporting documentation.

Verification information may contain information beyond what is otherwise required for your Platform profile. We may use such information for verification, security, fraud prevention, compliance and related purposes.

Where appropriate, we may also receive or verify information through a participating university or other authorized source.

1.5 Resume, Application and Career Information

We may collect information contained in resumes, CVs, cover letters, applications and other career-related materials that you create, upload, generate, edit or store through the Platform.

The Platform may allow you to create and maintain multiple resumes using information from your profile and other information you provide.

1.6 Content and Information You Provide to AI Features

Certain Platform features may require you to provide information, instructions, documents, prompts or other content to artificial intelligence or automated tools.

For example, our goal creation feature may require you to provide information to an AI-assisted system in order to generate a goal, plan, recommendation or related output.

You determine the information you choose to provide when using such features.

Because these features may accept free-form information, the content you provide may include personal information or other information that is not otherwise requested as part of your Platform profile.

You should avoid providing unnecessary confidential, highly sensitive or third-party information when using AI-assisted features.

1.7 Usage, Interaction and Engagement Information

We collect information about how you interact with the Platform and its content. This may include items or opportunities that you view, open in detail, like, save, click, apply to or otherwise interact with, together with information about your use of Platform features.

1.8 Technical and Device Information

We may automatically collect technical information when you use the Platform, including IP address, device information, browser or application information, operating system, authentication information, access times, logs, security information, device or messaging identifiers, error information and other information necessary to operate, secure, diagnose and improve the Platform.

The particular information collected may change as Platform functionality develops.

2. How We Use Information

We use information collected through the Platform to operate, maintain, secure, develop and improve our services and to provide students with career, education and opportunity-related functionality.

This may include using information to:

• Provide and administer the Platform, including managing accounts, profiles, verification, applications and other Platform functionality.
• Provide personalized and career-related services, including opportunities, recommendations, resumes, AI-assisted features and other relevant content.
• Understand, develop and improve the Platform, including analyzing usage, engagement, performance and the effectiveness of our features; and
• Communicate, protect and comply, including providing service communications, maintaining security, preventing misuse and complying with applicable legal requirements.

We may combine information from different parts of the Platform where reasonably necessary for these purposes.

3. Resumes and Applications

The Platform may use information you provide to help you create, edit, store and manage resumes and other career-related materials.

Creating a profile, resume or receiving a recommendation does not by itself constitute an application. Where applications are supported through the Platform, you decide whether to apply and, where applicable, which resume or application materials to submit.

When you choose to apply, relevant information may be provided to the potential employer, recruiter, or other organization responsible for the opportunity. Once submitted, such information may be retained and processed by that organization in accordance with its own practices, and deletion from the Platform may not remove copies already provided to them.

4. AI, Personalization and Automated Features

We may use heuristic methods, algorithms, artificial intelligence and other automated technologies to personalize the Platform, match students with jobs, internships, scholarships and other content, assist with resumes, generate goals or plans, and provide other career-related features.

For these purposes, we may process information from your profile, academic and professional background, interests, Platform activity and other information relevant to the feature being provided. Certain AI functionality may be provided by third-party service providers, and relevant information may be transmitted to and processed by those providers, including outside Pakistan.

Where an AI feature allows you to provide free-form information, prompts or documents, the information processed will depend on what you choose to submit along with relevant data from your profile. You should avoid providing unnecessary confidential, highly sensitive or third-party information.

We may change the AI models, providers and technologies used by the Platform over time. AI-generated content and recommendations may not always be accurate or suitable and do not guarantee eligibility, employment, scholarship selection or any other outcome.

5. AI-Generated Content and User Responsibility

Certain Platform features use AI to generate or assist with content, including resumes, goals, recommendations and other outputs. AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on, using or submitting it. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company is not responsible for errors in, or outcomes resulting from reliance on, AI-generated content.

6. Engagement and Aggregated Information

We may collect and analyze information about how users interact with jobs, posts, scholarships and other content, including views, detailed views, likes, saves, applications and similar activity. We may use this information to understand engagement, personalize the Platform, improve our services and provide analytics.

We may display or share incremental, aggregated or statistical engagement information with students, employers, companies, universities and other relevant Platform participants. For example, an employer may see the number of views, likes or saves associated with an opportunity. Unless otherwise indicated, such aggregated engagement information is not intended to identify you as an individual responsible for those interactions.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell student personal information to data brokers or third parties for their independent promotional purposes.

We may, however, disclose or make information available where reasonably necessary to operate the Platform and provide its services.

Employers, Recruiters and Opportunity Providers

When you choose to apply for a job, internship, scholarship or other opportunity, information you chose to share as part of your application may be provided to the potential employer, recruiter or other organization responsible for that opportunity.

Universities

Where the Platform operates in cooperation with a university, relevant information may be made available to authorized university personnel for purposes such as verifying student status, providing career and placement services, supporting students, administering opportunities, understanding engagement and producing appropriate reports and analytics.

The information available to a university may depend on the Platform functionality, arrangements with the university and applicable permissions.

Service Providers

We use third-party providers to operate, host, secure, support, analyze and develop the Platform.

These may include providers of cloud infrastructure, databases, storage, authentication, communications, artificial intelligence, analytics, cybersecurity and other technology services.

Such providers may process information on our behalf to the extent necessary to provide the relevant services.

Legal, Safety and Security Purposes

We may disclose information where we reasonably believe disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law, legal process or a request from a competent authority, or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, safety or security of the Company, the Platform, our users or others; investigate fraud or unlawful activity; or respond to cybersecurity incidents.

Corporate Transactions

If the Company or the Platform is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, financing, sale of assets, investment, insolvency or similar corporate transaction, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable legal requirements.

8. Communications and Notifications

We may use your contact and device information to communicate with you regarding the Platform.

Communications may include account notices, security alerts, application updates, jobs, internships, scholarships, relevant opportunities, Platform announcements and other service-related information.

Communications may be provided through email, push notifications, in-app messages or other communication methods supported by the Platform.

Some communications necessary for account administration, security or operation of the Platform may not be optional. Where applicable, you may manage optional communications through Platform or device settings.

9. Security and Cybersecurity Risks

We use reasonable technical, administrative and organizational measures designed to protect information against accidental loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse or destruction. Such measures may include authentication and authorization controls, security rules, application checks, access controls, encryption, secure communications, logging, monitoring and other safeguards appropriate to the Platform.

However, no internet-based service, cloud infrastructure, database, network, application or method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Cybersecurity incidents may occur despite reasonable safeguards, including hacking, malware, ransomware, credential theft, phishing, unauthorized access, exploitation of vulnerabilities, attacks on third-party infrastructure and other malicious activity.

A cybersecurity incident affecting us, our service providers, their infrastructure or their subprocessors may consequently affect information processed through the Platform.

If we become aware of a security incident affecting information under our control, we may take reasonable measures to investigate, contain, mitigate and respond to the incident and will make notifications where required by applicable law.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company will not be liable for loss, damage, unauthorized disclosure, alteration, destruction or compromise of information resulting from cybersecurity attacks, malicious third-party activity, vulnerabilities or incidents affecting third-party infrastructure, or other events beyond our control.

10. Your Responsibility for Your Information and Account

You are responsible for the information you choose to provide through the Platform and for taking reasonable steps to protect your account.

You should:

• Provide accurate information;
• Keep account credentials confidential;
• Protect devices used to access the Platform;
• Avoid sharing passwords or authentication information;
• Review information before submitting applications;
• Review AI-generated content before relying upon or submitting it; and
• Avoid providing unnecessary confidential, sensitive or third-party information.

11. Access, Updation and Deletion

You may be able to access, update or delete information through your Platform account.

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before processing a request.

Information may also remain temporarily in backups or other secure systems until deleted or overwritten through normal retention processes.

We may retain certain information after update or deletion where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, recordkeeping, enforcement of agreements or other legitimate purposes.

Where information has previously been provided to an employer, university, scholarship provider or other independent third party, deletion from the Platform cannot delete copies retained by that party.

12. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform and its services, maintain user accounts, facilitate applications and opportunities, support security and fraud prevention, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements and fulfil the other purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods depending on their nature, purpose, legal requirements and operational needs.

13. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Platform and its service providers may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers and similar technologies to authenticate users, maintain sessions, remember preferences, provide functionality, improve performance, understand Platform usage, maintain security and personalize the user experience.

Your browser or device may allow you to manage certain cookies or permissions. Disabling particular technologies may affect the availability or operation of certain Platform features.

14. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Platform may contain links to employer websites, scholarship portals, university websites, external application systems and other third-party services.

We do not control the privacy, security or data-handling practices of independent third parties.

If you leave the Platform or provide information directly to another organization, its privacy policy, terms and practices may apply. We encourage you to review those policies before providing personal information.

15. Children and Eligibility

The Platform is for university students and other persons eligible to participate in university career, placement, education and scholarship programs.

The Platform is not intended for children who cannot lawfully provide the information or authorization required to use the Platform.

16. Changes to the Platform and Service Providers

The Platform will continue to develop over time.

We may introduce, remove or modify features and may change the cloud infrastructure, AI models, algorithms, service providers, communication services and other technologies used to provide the Platform.

Accordingly, the particular systems and third parties involved in processing information may change.

Where a change materially affects how we collect, use or disclose personal information, we may update this Privacy Policy.

17. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Platform, our practices, technology, security requirements, service providers or applicable law.

The revised Privacy Policy will display an updated “Last Updated” date.

Where required by applicable law or where we otherwise consider appropriate, we may provide additional notice of material changes through the Platform, email or another reasonable method.

Your continued use of the Platform following an update will be subject to the updated Privacy Policy, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
